It’s been an incredibly tough 12 months for many of us, but we can work together as a community to help ensure that no-one in South Australia goes hungry.
Help put food into the mouths of those most in need
Café Outside the Square is a 100% charity café and meetings/functions space, setup so as to provide food support and training opportunities for disadvantaged and vulnerable people right across SA, including those experiencing homelessness.
We offer a quality menu and a great place to meet, eat, work and play in the Adelaide CBD. Come enjoy our locally-focused menu and, of course, quality coffee!
Our core vision for our humble venue is to be a place that provides hope, compassion, love or inspiration to our community, and to help ensure that "No-one Goes Hungry"
FUNCTIONS, MEETINGS & EVENTS
Located on 34 Whitmore Square in the Adelaide CBD, Cafe Outside The Square is your ideal venue to hire for functions, parties, meetings and events. It's perfect to hire for your workshops, corporate functions, music or theatre performances. The Cafe features multiple individually available function spaces (as below), or is available to hire as a whole for larger private functions, for up to 200 people to sit/stand. We are also happy to book evening functions by arrangement. The great thing is we can of course cater to all our events in-house, so that means you often won’t even need to pay a hire fee if so! And we are always happy to organise an event liquor license for any functions as needed.

Booking the entire Café for an exclusive function offers you a range of lovely spaces, large and small indoor and out, capable of catering to up to 200 people. Whether you want to book a party, a corporate function, a music or theatre performance, or whatever it may be, we are sure you will love our venue!
Our Meeting Room is a boardroom styled space suitable as a meeting space for up to 12 people, complete with TV screen, colour photocopier, whiteboard, and large boardroom table and chairs. Ideal for corporate meetings and seminars.
Our Cafe areas to the front of the cafe are more intimate, and are perfect for smaller functions, product launches, or to hire for get togethers of any kind.
The Lobby is particularly lovely in the warmer months, with a beautiful outlook over Whitmore Square.
Depending on the nature of your event, you will also often be able to spill outside to our delightful vine covered alfresco, right opposite the Square, when you want to get a bit of lovely fresh air and stretch your legs.
In using our venue for hire for your function, meeting, or event, you are also doing your bit to help people experiencing homelessness and the underprivileged - as all of our profits are poured back into our support and training programs for those less fortunate in the community.
We make venue hire easy for you and the bonus is that depending on what you are wanting a lot of the time there is no room hire fee at all. A good old win win! We also offer full catering options delivered to wherever you might need it, for any function or event no matter how large or small.

Our model is a little different from most cafés, with our 100% ‘not for profit’ business model redefining “pay it forward”, in order to support those less fortunate in our community.
We work directly in conjunction with many other charitable organisations, including Vinnies, whose Companions staying at their hostel three doors down the road come to our Café each and every evening to enjoy a meal provided by the Vinnies team. By supporting us you directly help support us to help provide them with meals, as well as supporting our broader work in providing training opportunities with a view to helping them find employment.
But please don’t come to us as a sympathy vote! Come enjoy our delicious menu and of course quality coffee! Although like our name suggests we are a bit different to others and “Outside the Square”, we are only as good as the quality of food beverages and service we supply.
So put us to the test and we think you will be pleasantly surprised!
Come and enjoy some lovely live music by local artists every weekend brunch, generally both Saturdays and Sundays, a great chilled way to start the day!
